Undoubtedly finding career-best form over an impressive 2014 autumn campaign, trainer Roger James has revealed talented mare Silent Achiever will contest the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) second-up upon returning to Australia in 2015.
The winner of ten of her 30 competitive starts, including four at the highest level of racing, Silent Achiever has not been seen at the races since placing a commendable third in the featured Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 25th.
Confirming the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 14th as her first point of call, James is thrilled with the condition of the O’reilly mare and revealed she will progress to the 2015 Chipping Norton Stakes and Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) on March 21st before a likely berth in the major Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on Day 2 of The Championships.
“She is really well,” James told Racing Ahead.
“I just finalised plans yesterday with my owners and she is on the plane in about ten days’ time to run first-up in the Apollo Stakes on the 14th.
“Two weeks until the Chipping Norton and three weeks to the Ranvet.
“After that we have got to make a decision as to whether we go to the Queen Elizabeth or The BMW.
“The fact that they have The BMW and the Ranvet a week later now has not go great appeal to me really and she wouldn’t do both.
“We have tried to come back off a mile and a half in a preparation twice and we have only been able to run fourth in the Queen Elizabeth.
“I am leaving every option open until after the Ranvet.”
Breaking through for a maiden Group 1 victory in the 2012 edition of the New Zealand Derby, Silent Achiever comfortably took out a minor over 1500m first-up in 2014 before completing an incredible run of victories in the Group 1 New Zealand Stakes (2000m), Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 The BMW (2400m); returning to the paddock following a credible performance for fourth in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes on April 19th.
Running an impressive fourth in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) first-up upon returning in spring, Silent Achiever continued to fifth in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) and a luckless ninth in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) prior to her Cox Plate third.
A final field and barrier draw for the 2015 Chipping Norton Stakes is due to be completed at released by midday, February 25th.
Silent Achiever is currently rated a $13 chance for success in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
