It’s Chris Waller’s second win in a row and means he hasn’t missed a place with any of his runners today.

She should have won too as she was a big favourite on Luxbet and had the absolute run of the race.

In a masterful ride by jockey Jimmy Cassidy she sat on the rails with cover one back the entire trip and once she hit the strait it just opened up for her.

The 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes will light up Warwick Farm Racecourse this Saturday March 5 and here we have the latest odds and best betting tips for the opening Group 1 race of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Set to run as Warwick Farm Race 6 on Saturday jumping at 4:26pm (AEDST), the 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes features an elite field of 13 gallopers including nine individual Group 1 winners.

Clear favourite in the Luxbet Chipping Norton Stakes betting markets is the Tony Vasil-trained Melito at a firming quote of $3.20.

Last start the dual Group 1 winning daughter of Redoute’s Choice won the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) ahead of a quality field at Rosehill first-up and will improve again second-up in the Chipping Norton this weekend.

The depth of the Chipping Norton Stakes field this year, however, combined with Melito’s less-than-inspiring record over 1600m and her far outside barrier draw mean there is value in laying the favourite through Luxbet.

There are a number of other top-class contenders amongst Melito’s Chipping Norton Stakes rivals on Saturday who have a genuine chance to claim an upset at longer-priced odds.

Chipping Norton Stakes Best Betting Tips – Warwick Farm Race 6

Punters’ Favourite: #11 Melito – $3.20 through Luxbet

Has the form and talent but not the record over the mile or the draw.

Our Pick to Win: #3 Danleigh – Rated Special at $7.50 so back them now at Luxbet

Consistent Chris Waller-trained seven-year-old, forget last start sixth in Apollo where had no room and look instead at their eye-catching fourth to Shocking third-up at this track and distance in the Group 2 Makybe Diva Stakes last prep. Improved since and can win at a nice price.

To Finish Second: Melito

$1.50 Place Odds at Luxbet but lock in the Quinella with Danleigh for more value instead.

Third Place Goes To: #9 Luen Yat Forever

Former Macau galloper was impressive when beaten less than a length finishing fourth in the Emirates Stakes last year, has good draw and adds value to the Trifecta as a $14 chance through Luxbet

Add into Exotics / First Four Bets: #13 Once Were Wild

A market firmer prepared by Waterhouse, was fourth in Apollo but should have come on since then and find her feet and speed better in the Chipping Norton.

Best Roughie for an Upset: #12 Sacred Choice – $21 Fixed Win Odds at Luxbet $5.70 to Place

Is Warwick Farm trained, great record over the mile of three wins and two placings from five starts, don’t discount.

See below for the latest 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes odds and then head to Luxbet to lock in our exclusive tips and check the updated markets!

Don’t have a Luxbet account?

The 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes final field and barrier draw have been released with defending champion Theseo drawing wide with gate 12 in the opening Group 1 race of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

The $750,000 Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) is the marquee event on the Warwick Farm race-card this Saturday, March 5.

This year’s showdown has attracted a brilliant final field of 13 acceptors including nine Group 1 winners and last year’s Chipping Norton Stakes winner Theseo.

Seven-year-old Danewin gelding Theseo is set to jump from barrier 12 with Nash Rawiller in the mount as the Gai Waterhouse-trained veteran attempts successive victories in the mile showdown.

Theseo will line-up alongside three of his stablemates with Waterhouse also represented in the Chipping Norton Stakes field by last year’s Caulfield Cup winner Descarado (barrier 11), Lorne Dancer (barrier 10) and Once Were Wild (barrier nine).

Maluckyday has come up with barrier seven in the Chipping Norton Stakes, last year’s Melbourne Cup runner-up behind Americain resuming for the season with Jim Cassidy booked for the ride.

Zabeel four-year-old Maluckyday showed they were ready to return and run in a Group 1 first-up after hitting the line well in a 900m barrier trial at Rosehill on Tuesday morning.

Other top picks in the Chipping Norton Stakes 2011 field include:

Danleigh (Chris Waller) – Seven-year-old Mujahid gelding third-up for the season, looking to break a 10 ½ month drought not having won since taking out the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes last April, was third in last year’s Chipping Norton behind Theseo

Centennial Park (David Payne) – In-form five-year-old won the Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) first-up this year at Rosehill before finishing third behind Melito in the Apollo Stakes on February 19

Melito (Gerald Ryan) – Last start winner of the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill, quality Redoute’s Choice mare seeking her first win over the mile but suffering a blow with the far outside barrier 13

Two horses dropped out of Chipping Norton Stakes contention from nomination stage with the Peter Snowden-trained Skilled and Chris Waller’s multiple Group 1 winner Metal Bender, spelled and ruled out of the remainder of the autumn, not paid up for.

Scheduled as Warwick Farm Race 6 this Saturday, the Chipping Norton Stakes is accompanied by two other Group races with More Strawberries the favourite for the $200,000 Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) and a quality field running in the $125,000 Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m).

A star-studded list of gallopers have been nominated for the $350,000 Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) this year, the event kick starting the Group 1 racing action of the Sydney Autumn Carnival this Saturday March 5 at Warwick Farm.

The 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes has drawn 15 nominations including defending champion Theseo and last year’s Melbourne Cup runner-up Maluckyday.

Seven-year-old Danwin gelding Theseo, who scored a thrillingly close win in the Chipping Norton 12 months ago, is back to defend their title before vying for a record third consecutive win in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) next start at Rosehill on March 19.

Waterhouse has also nominated Caulfield Cup winner Descarado, four-year-old mare Once Were Wild and the injury prone Lorne Dancer for the 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes this Saturday.

The top-line entry in the Group 1 Warwick Farm feature is the Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained Maluckyday.

Runner-up to Americain in the $6 million Melbourne Cup last start in November, Zabeel four-year-old Maluckyday is already the ante-post favourite to win the 2011 Melbourne Cup and resumes racing in the Chipping Norton on Saturday.

It is an impressive list of hopefuls that make up the Chipping Norton Stakes nominations this year, other notable runners heading towards the weight-for-age feature include:

- Centennial Park (David Payne): Thorn Park five-year-old in red hot form having won first-up in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) before placing third in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) last start at Rosehill on February 19

- Danleigh (Chris Waller): Group 1 winning seven-year-old still has claims here, will start at longer odds through Luxbet and could represent great value for an upset

- Melito (Gerald Ryan): Classy Redoute’s Choice mare hard to fault when winning the Apollo Stakes by nearly two lengths over Hot Danish last start, yet to win over 1600m but did place a close second over the mile at Caulfield in 2009

- Skilled (Peter Snowden): Three-year-old Commands colt having their third run for the year following two Group 2 third places in February, a Group 1 winner last year over the mile so will see plenty of support in the betting markets

The 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes final field of acceptors and barrier draw will be released tomorrow and published here so bookmark this site.

In the meantime, make sure you’re ready to back the Chipping Norton Stakes winner at the guaranteed best odds by signing up with the Tabcorp-owned Luxbet today.

The 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes is scheduled to take place on Saturday March 5 as one of the premier Group 1 races of the annual Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Chipping Norton Stakes Day is the biggest autumn race meet conducted at Warwick Farm Racecourse and the headline event on the card is the $350,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m).

Watch for last year’s third placegetter Danleigh in the 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes & for the best odds on them sign up with Luxbet!

Run under weight-for-age conditions, the 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes is accompanied by two other Group race features at the meeting with the $200,000 Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) for fillies and the $125,000 Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) both providing other excellent betting markets.

One of the best lead-up races for horses heading towards the Chipping Norton Stakes field is the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) run at Rosehill on February 19, also run under weight-for-age conditions.

The next major autumn carnival feature for runners that contest the Chipping Norton Stakes is often the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) and the 2011 Ranvet Stakes will take place at Rosehill Racecourse on March 19.

Last year’s Chipping Norton Stakes winner Theseo backed up with a good win in the Ranvet Stakes and odds on the Chipping Norton / Ranvet Stakes double will again be open at Luxbet this year.

Other horses to complete the double include Grand Armee (2005) and Tuesday Joy (2009).

In 2010 Rangirangdoo ran second to Theseo in both the Chipping Norton and the Ranvet Stakes, before which they were runner-up in the Apollo Stakes.

One horse heading towards this year’s Chipping Norton Stakes field is the Chris Waller-trained Danleigh who ran third in the race last year after winning the 2010 Apollo Stakes.

Nominations for the 2011 Chipping Norton Stakes will be taken on Monday February 28 and then the final field of acceptances will be released and published here on Wednesday March 3, so bookmark this site to view the list of hopeful horses.

On Saturday while wild weather lashed Flemington in Melbourne, Sydney’s Warwick Farm racecourse enjoyed a spectacular day of racing headlined by Theseo’s sensational victory in the $300, 000 Group 1 Patinack Chipping Norton Stakes.

Theseo ($7) upset trainer Chris Waller’s plans of another group race quinella by beating home the hot pre-race favourite Rangirangdoo ($2.70) by a half head with the runner-up’s stablemate Danleigh ($7) nearly two lengths back in third.

Danleigh was coming off an impressive win in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes where he held off Rangirangdoo in second. But the pair couldn’t repeat the feat as the Gai Waterhouse-trained Theseo proved too strong in the 1600m gallop.

It was an impressive comeback for the winning Danewin gelding following Theseo’s lacklustre eighth place in the Apollo Stakes, his first start after a lengthy injury induced spell.

Before a career threatening hoof injury saw Theseo off the track for the entire spring season last year, he enjoyed a remarkable string of successes and became a triple Group 1 winner with wins in the Epson Handicap, Mackinnon Stakes and the Ranvet Stakes. After Saturday’s Chipping Norton victory he looks to have returned to the winning form that nearly earned him the prestigious Horse of the Year award.

After a brilliant jump from barrier two Theseo took to the front early. But mid-way down the home straight Rangirangdoo took to the rails and got a slight lead on six-year-old Theseo who moved out wider, with many thinking that would be the end of the pacemaker. But Theseo fought back in impressive style, rising to the challenge set by his rival and pushing on strong to regain the lead and cross the line first.

The Chipping Norton Stakes win gave Theseo’s jockey Nash Rawiller a hat-trick of victories at the meeting following his earlier wins with Strike One in the Munro Family Handicap and More Joyous in the Group 2 Surround Stakes.

For premier Sydney trainer Waterhouse, Saturday’s victory was her sixth in the Chipping Norton Stakes after previously triumphing with Pharaoh (1995), Juggler (1996), Grand Armee (2005), Desert War (2006) and Tuesday Joy (2009).

The 2010 Chipping Norton Stakes was contested by eleven horses, nine with Group 1 wins to their name, following the scratching of Alcopop, Palacio De Cristal and Mentality on Saturday morning.

Other great feature races held at the Warwick Farm meeting included the Group 2 Surround Stakes where exciting filly More Joyous claimed victory and the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes won by the new Golden Slipper favourite Solar Charged.

Racing returns to Sydney’s Warwick Farm racecourse this Saturday when the track hosts the coveted $300, 000 Group 1 Patinack Farm Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) for the first time in three years.

14 terrific gallopers have made the final field for the 2010 Chipping Norton Stakes including Rosehill trainer Chris Waller’s star stablemates Rangirangdoo and Danleigh. The impressive pair gave Waller the quinella in the Apollo Stakes last start and he will be hoping for a similar result on Saturday.

The warm pre-race favourite at $2.25 with SportsBet is Pentire gelding Rangirangdoo drawn in barrier eight. Rangirangdoo placed second to Danleigh in the Apollo Stakes, but reserves favouritism this time round. Danleigh will start out further in gate ten and is installed as the second elect at $4.50. The Chipping Norton Stakes will be a passionate battle between the two stablemates.

Rivals that will be fighting hard to rain on Waller’s parade include Anthony Cummings’ Road To Rock (br.11), two entries from star Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse Theseo (br.2) and Rock Kingdom (br.3), and Palacio De Cristal who placed third in the Apollo Stakes drawn ideally in barrier one.

The star-studded field also features promising South Australian stayer Alcopop on his way to the Group 1 The BMW and the Lee Freedman-trained Speed Gifted who bypassed the Australian Cup at Flemington for the Chipping Norton Stakes.

A brilliant line-up of group races accompanies the Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick on Saturday including the $150, 000 Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m), the $125, 000 Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) for two-year-olds and the $125, 000 Group 3 Liverpool Cup (1300m).

The 2010 Chipping Norton Stakes is scheduled as race six at the meeting’s bumper eight-race programme and is due to jump at 4:25pm.

Sydney’s picturesque Warwick Farm Racecourse is gearing up for this Saturday when the coveted Chipping Norton Stakes Day will take place. The Chipping Norton Stakes has been run at the Royal Randwick for the past two years, but returns to Warwick Farm this year.

The headline race of the day will be the $300, 000 Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m), with the weight-for-age feature attracting an above capacity field of 17 nominations this year.

Top class nominees for the 2010 Chipping Norton Stakes include the Bart Cummings-trained Roman Emperor, the Lee Freedman-trained Speed Gifted, Alcopop and two elite gallopers from Chris Waller Danleigh and Rangirangdoo.

Six-year-old Montjeu gelding Speed Gifted will be having his first start since a dismal second last placing in last October’s Cox Plate with Freedman hoping the well deserved spell will have improved Speed Gifted’s form.

There is a lot of attention on last-start Apollo Stakes winner Danleigh, the six-year-old gelding set for a rematch with stablemate Rangirangdoo, who ran second in the Apollo Stakes.

Randwick trainer Gai Waterhouse is aiming for her sixth Chipping Norton Stakes win with her Danewin gelding Theseo due to be ridden by in-form hoop Nash Rawiller. Waterhouse also has Rock Kingdom nominated for Saturday’s feature.

The final field of 16 horses for the 2010 Chipping Norton Stakes will be announced later in the week and published here.

Warwick Farm racecourse is gearing up to host Sydney’s first Group 1 race of 2010, the coveted $300 000 Patinack Farm Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) on Saturday March 6.

The headline act of the meeting, the Chipping Norton Stakes is one of four terrific black type races on the day and because of its lucrative prizemoney and prestigious status is sure to draw some of the country’s finest middle distance gallopers.

In the past, the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) has been an excellent lead-up race and indicator for the Chipping Norton Stakes. This year the Apollo Stakes will be run on February 20 and punters keen to get a heads up for their Chipping Norton Stakes bets should keep an eye on the winner and placegetters in this earlier weight-for-age race.

The Chipping Norton Stakes is sure to attract a large number of wagers and the attention of many racing enthusiasts as the winner is exempt from ballot for the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap on April 17 and the Group 1 Sydney Cup on April 24.

Local Warwick Farm trainer John Thompson will enter his three-year-old colt Gathering in 2010 Chipping Norton Stakes in the hope he can secure a second career win.

Stablemates Danleigh and Rangirangdoo will face off again in the Chipping Norton Stakes

Stablemates Danleigh and Rangirangdoo, both on the path to the Doncaster Mile, will face off again in the Chipping Norton Stakes. Trainer Chris Waller will first run them in the Apollo Stakes and follow up with the Chipping Norton Stakes.

Five-year-old Rangirangdoo is the more fancied of the two following his sensational Expressway Stakes win at Rosehill on February 6. Six-year-old Danleigh, who began the same race as the odds-on favourite, could only manage fifth.

Alcopop is another five-year-old gelding on a similar campaign, the in-form winner of seven of his 11 career starts is expected to run in the Apollo Stakes and then the Chipping Norton Stakes.

Nominations for the 2010 Chipping Norton Stakes must be in by Monday March 3 ahead of the announcement of the final field on Wednesday March 3.
